André Gremillet, president and CEO of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO), is leaving the orchestra in September.
The NJSO Board of Trustees announced yesterday that its president will step down from his position to become managing director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Australia.
"It has been exciting and gratifying to lead this fine organization over the past few years," Gremillet said in a press release.
"I am grateful for the wonderful support and dedication of the Board, musicians and staff; it has been a great pleasure to work closely with Music Directors Neeme Järvi and Jacques Lacombe," he added.
One of his main accomplishments during his tenure, which began in 2007, was to name and successfully secure a new music director Jacques Lacombe, who significantly raised the profile of the orchestra.
In Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Gremillet will take over the position from Matthew VanBeisen, who became executive director of the New York Philharmonic in January.
The NJSO said Susan Stucker, its vice president of operations and general manager, will take over as interim president.
