Tyler Perry' s 'For Better Or Worse' New Season Owns Wednesday Night For Oprah Winfrey, Record Ratings

Tyler Perry is a highly successful writer, producer, director, actor and part-time drag queen. All jokes aside, he really is no joke. His sitcom, For Better or Worse, just premiered on a new network. The spin-off series, based on his film franchise Why Did I Get Married, recently made the switch from TBS to Oprah Winfrey's OWN. The move resulted in the highest Wednesday night ratings to date for Winfrey.

Tyler Perry has made quite a name for himself...one that he plasters on everything he touches. He's sort of an African American George Cohen--A multi talented, do it all whose name can only be printed in bundles. The guy's contracts must have like six signature lines.

It seems as if everywhere you look, Tyler Perry is bringing you something. Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself, the seemingly always present apostrophes, implies he owns a lot. Now it appears that he now owns OWN.

Not literally, but his already present shows, Tyler Perry's Love Thy Neighbor and his soap opera, Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots were created for and brought record ratings to, the struggling network. And you can add to that list Tyler Perry's For Better Or Worse. which brought even bigger ratings.

The third season premiere drew in over 1.124 million viewers, the highest Wednesday night ratings for the network to date. Not bad for a show that was dropped from TBS. The comedy, however, has received mixed reviews in the past. A review from Opportunity LOL once wrote:

"I am curious why Tyler Perry wrote for most characters to be so ostentatiously wealthy as it brings the style a little too close to day-time soap operas. Wait a second, did Tyler Perry convince me to watch a soap?"
