It's almost time for new TV shows to come out. So we here at Classicalite are continuing our previews of some of the most anticipated new shows in the fall lineup. Tonight, we take a look at Conan O'Briens new ABC sitcom Super Fun Night and his co-star, Rebel Wilson.
It's that time of year again. Fall is upon us and that can mean only one thing--new shows are coming. So clear the junk off your DVRs, un-cancel that Hulu Plus subscription and quit your night job...whatever it takes to absorb all that the magical glowing box has to offer.
Former Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien is making his return to network TV. The former SNL and Simpsons writer will be producing a new sitcom on ABC, called Super Fun Night.
SFN is written by and stars Australian actress Rebel Wilson, who is best known to American audiences for roles in Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect. Wilson first won over O'brien when she guests on TBS talk show. During a recent Television Critics Association Tour, the talk show host doted over the actress:
“When the show was over, I walked over to [the executive producer] and said, ‘I want her back tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day.’ She’s one of the more likeable performers I’ve ever seen.”
With O'Brien's admiration as her inspiration, Wilson began working on a script based around experiences she and her sister would have on what they used to call "Friday Night Fun Nights." The series will follow three women who have their own version of the wild party night.
Wilson also spoke at the event:
“The purpose of the show to me is to really inspire girls who don’t think they’re cool, or popular, or pretty and all that, to get out there, and that they can have fun and exciting lives too, and I think that in order to do that you need to present a very realistic version of what it’s like to be a girl who looks like me and is not the coolest.”
Super Fun Night premiers on ABC, October 2nd at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT) following Modern Family.
