Music Empowers Foundation Presents Grant To Piano Outreach of New York

The Music Empowers Foundation recently announced a grant to benefit Piano Outreach of New York (PONY). PONY provides piano instruction by highly trained musicians to underprivileged children from schools throughout the New York metropolitan area.

This contribution from Music Empowers will be used to fund numerous full and partial scholarships for children during the upcoming 2012/2013 school year.

"Piano Outreach of New York is honored to receive its first grant from the Music Empowers Foundation," said Vera Barskaya Anselmo, founder of PONY. "Like Music Empowers, we feel strongly that music education is not a luxury, but a necessity to all children as it spurs their intellectual growth and helps to develop their self esteem."

Andy Davis, founder of Music Empowers Foundation, explained that a friend who is one of the program's teachers and also happens to be the keyboardist for the Saturday Night Live Band introduced him to PONY.

"I was able to see first hand the impact this type of program was able to have on kids who otherwise would have little chance of receiving this level of music education," said Mr. Davis. "It was only a matter of time until we decided to lend our support."
