JARVIS & Vision Paul Bettany Blasts Jason Statham After ‘Daredevil’ Bullseye Casting Rumors

Marvel is at war with the Transporter. Despite being rumored to be cast as Bullseye in Daredevil Season 2, Jason Statham fired shots at the MCU and superhero movies as a whole. The action star has some issues with actors not doing their own stunts and the “overuse” of green screen and CGI. Now, J.A.R.V.I.S and Vision actor Paul Bettany has blasted back. The Avengers actor has come out swinging, calling out Statham on his acting chops.

During Paul Bettany’s interview with Conan O’Brien, the host brought up Jason Statham’s recent criticism of Marvel films. While promoting the Paul Feig action comedy Spy, Statham took a shot at Marvel actors, telling i400Calci :

“Marvel comic kind of things, I just think that any guy could do it. I have no ambition..I mean I could take my grandma, and put her in a cape and then put her in a green screen and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action -- anybody can do it.”

Avengers 2 actor Paul Bettany has now resonded to Statham, telling Conan O'Brien:

“I don’t know why anybody would talk smack about-- you know it’s a round world, however you want to earn your living. He's brilliant at what he does -- I couldn't do it. And it’s true, you know, I try to do as many of the stunts as I can, but there are times when it's too dangerous or it's too tricky. You know, potentially he should think about investing in an acting double.”

Bettany continued to lay into Statham, adding:

“I am just saying. I would talk sh*t about somebody else’s work, but I read the contract, they [Marvel] employed me as an actor. There’s obviously stunt men of the world, you have met them, you have seen them. They’re very good at what they do, so let them do it.

“But if there's a really, really tricky scene with some very tricky dialogue, one might consider bringing in an acting double for Jason Statham. I am just saying. “

However, Bettany admitted that he is no match for Statham in the real world, adding:

“He’s very butch. I don’t want to be beating up by him.”
