The HBO series Game of Thrones has made a name for itself because of its multi-layered storyline as well as copious amounts of sex, nudity, and violence. Emilia Clarke, one of the stars of Game of Thrones, says enough's enough. In an interview with The Daily Mail, she had this to say about the naughty bits in her show and others, "I'm British, so I cringe at that sort of thing anyway -- I can't stand it."
Clarke, not only dislikes the proliferation of unclothed actors and actresses appearing on other shows, but hers as well. Two seasons ago, Clarke put her foot down and said she wouldn't be appearing in the nude any longer and has held strong to that principal ever since. The British born actress came to prominence as Daenerys Targaryen in the very racy Thrones series, which were based on the novels of George RR Martin.
Clarke elaborated, via Daily Mail, "Most sex scenes you see in films or on TV are gratuitous and they're usually just to attract an audience," she continued. "On screen, the subtler the better." Of course, it could be argued that tactic has been utilized extensively by not only Game of Thrones but its network, HBO, as well. Rarely will you find a reoccurring show on the network that doesn't have at least one episode where that isn't used as a lure. It certainly was part of the reason Clarke even has a platform to deride the practice.
Granted, it can be taken It can be taken to extreme and as Clarke expressed, via an article on Fox News, "I want to be known for my acting, not my breasts. I don't want to have sex thrown in my face and I've always thought the suggestion is so much more titillating than the act itself,"
