Batfleck Movie Update: Ben Affleck Talks 'Batman Vs Superman' Backlash On 'Jimmy Fallon'

Ben Affleck, aka Batfleck, appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Monday night where he responded to the overly harsh fan reactions to his recent casting as Batman in the upcoming Batman Vs Superman movie. Turns out Batfleck is a big boy who can handle all the backlash.

During Monday night's interview with the future-Tonight Show host, Ben Affleck addressed the Internet hate he has been receiving, in regards to taking on the mantel of the Bat, telling Fallon:

"The people from the studio were like 'We're thrilled... and listen we want to talk to you because people go through this process and it can be a little trying'. They said, 'We want to show you some of the reactions that past cast members have got on the internet'."

Affleck, however, isnt afraid of the Internet, adding:

"I'm a big boy. If I can handle an Emmy snub, I can handle anything. I handle s**t, you know what I mean - I'm very tough. So I saw the announcement, I look at the first comment and it's like, 'Ben Affleck is going to be Batman' and the first one goes, 'Noooooooo!'"

The particularly harsh criticism of Affleck's casting, is largely due to his role in the highly-disappointing 2003 superhero film, Daredevil. However, that was over a decade ago and Affleck was hardly to blame for the film's poor reception. Since then, the 41-year-old actor, writer, director has made quite a name for himself. His recent film's The Town and Argo have brought him critical acclaim for his dual roles as actor/director.

However, Affleck himself was a little hesitant to take the role until he was able to look over the direction Zack Snyder has planned for the film:

"[Zack Snyder] has this incredible take on it. Obviously you can't do what Christian [Bale] did, those movies are amazing... He wants to do something different, but still in keeping with [what Chris Nolan did]. So I thought... this is a brilliant way to do this, and I really know how to hook into this."

The film tentatively known as Batman Vs Superman is expected in theaters July 17th 2015
