Disgraced former NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal once again finds herself in the news. This time, however, it's not for pretending to be a different ethnicity. According to Dolezal, she is pregnant and expecting another baby boy. Of course, after lying about being black, many struggle to believe anything Rachel has to say.
The 37-year-old Washington resident shot to fame earlier this year, when it was revealed that she had (somewhat successfully) been lying about her ethnicity for years.
Ms. Dolezal's act was so convincing that she was actively serving as the president of the Spokane, Wash., NAACP chapter when the scandal occurred. Rachel resigned shortly after her parents issued a public statement informing the world that Ms. Dolezal was actually 100% white.
Since then, she has remained largely off of the media's radar. However, that all changed this week.
Ms. Dolezal is once again generating national headlines after she claimed that she is pregnant. According to Atlanta Journal Constitution, Rachel confirmed that she is expecting a baby boy:
"She's pregnant, according to media reports...Dolezal reportedly announced the pregnancy on her Instagram account, and confirmed to the entertainment news site TMZ she is in her second trimester...She declined to identify the baby's father. She is divorced."
Many have doubted if Ms. Dolezal's statements are accurate. And that's really not all that surprising, considering Rachel's history.
Ever since the scandal broke, Rachel has found herself to be a punchline for the media. In fact, even former basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar got in on the jokes.
Penning an op-ed for TIME, Kareem made a shocking revelation about his own lies. As TMZ tells readers, Mr. Abdul-Jabbar has been living a secret life:
"Kareem said, 'I've decided to come out with the truth. I am not tall (#shortstuff)'...in a Time article...The absurd, and clearly tongue-in-cheek confession...came in an op-ed piece Kareem wrote about Dolezal...hours after her resignation from her NAACP presidency. Abdul-Jabbar added, 'Although I've been claiming to be 7'2 for many decades, the truth is that I'm 5'8.'"
What do you make of the latest reports? Do you believe Rachel is telling the truth?
