Dallas Cowboys Looking for Running Back to Sign for 2015 NFL Season

The Dallas Cowboys were one of the best teams in the NFL last season, and ended up winning a playoff game before losing to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional playoff round. DeMarco Murray was a huge part of their success last season, and ended up rushing for 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season. It appears that the Cowboys would like to add another running back before the 2015 season as they have just added Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle on the depth chart.

If the Cowboys truly do want to bring in another running back, there are plenty of talented players available for them to choose from this year. They have some money to spend on a veteran back or a young back for one season.

Fred Jackson is one player that would make a lot of sense for the Cowboys one a one-year contract. Pierre Thomas is another player, while Ray Rice could be an option as well if Jerry Jones and company decided to go that direction. There will also be some players that other teams decide to cut ahead of the season that could interest Dallas.

No matter which direction they decide to go, they will likely find a player more capable of being an every down starter than the two players that they currently have vying for the position.

Needless to say, this report should make the Cowboys' fan base happy. Almost every single fan is feeling a bit uneasy about the current running back situation, and it seems like the Cowboys' front office is beginning to feel like that as well. Making the move to bring in a veteran would be the smartest decision, as they could at the very least get consistent production from them.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the Cowboys end up doing over the next couple of weeks.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors begin to come out ahead of the regular season, and don't be surprised if the Cowboys end up signing a new back. Jones has to be aggressive if he wants to get back into the postseason, and running back is the biggest question mark for their offense.
