An online group is demanding that Avengers and Thor villian Loki be giving his own Marvel movie. These loyal fans, known as Loki's Army, are growing in number every day. Can Loki's Army be enough to bring the much rumored super-villain film to the big screen?
Superhero films are all the rage. It seems that every time you look you will find someone in tights and a cape. However, there are growing numbers of fans out there that are getting tired of all the hero worship. They're sick of the muscle-bound do-gooders swooping in to save the day. They want a villain, a bad guy to rally behind.
In short, they want Loki!
Loki's Army has started an online appeal via Change.org demanding that Marvel deliver a solo vehicle for Thor's bad boy brother. The round-robin petition, entitled "Free Loki," has already drawn in close to 20,000 signatures and growing. Moreover, Loki's loyal followers are making a pretty strong case for their cause:
"We feel Loki (as portrayed by Tom Hiddleston), due to the astounding following both the character and actor have earned as a result of the Marvel films, more than warrants further exploration of his story. We believe such an endeavor would not only be profitable and successful, but could also provide a larger view for general audiences of the incredibly complex and diverse personality a well-known villain of the Marvel universe is gifted with. To explore this darker side of the Thor storyline would be to give credit to a compelling individual, his remarkable portrayals and an appreciative audience that feels a fierce loyalty to both in an unprecedented way. Simply put: He has an army."
Marvel has yet to comment on their future plans for the fan favorite, but a big enough opening weekend for the upcoming sequel to 2011's Thor could be all it take to convince the studio to further explore the character.
Thor: The Dark World opens in theaters on November 8.
