Is Carson Daly Leaving 'The Voice?' 'Last Call' Host Takes New Job at 'Today Show'

Carson Daly, host of NBC's The Voice and Last Call with Carson Daly has a new gig. Daly is joining the gang over at The Today Show, but don't worry, he isn't quitting his day...make that his night job.

It was announced Thursday that The Voice host will be joining NBC's Today Show family along side Al Roker, Matt Lauer, Kathie Lee and Hoda. Daly will be hosting a new social media segment called "The Orange Room"

Daly told Today.com about how honored he was to be joining the team:

“When I got the call about being permanently on Today and launching 'The Orange Room,' it was like a dream come true. You know that scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, where Charlie peels back the wrapper and finds the golden ticket? I felt like I got the golden ticket."

Daly continued: "Everything I’ve done in my career up until this point has trained me for Today--the interviews, the live TV, the live radio--it all gets paid off. I was playing in the minor leagues, and now I’ve just been called up to the big leagues. It’s amazing that I get to be a small part of the new era and generation of Today--not just to be here, but to be here to help build the future of Today and serve as the bridge between viewers and the show.”

Carson Daly rose to fame in the late 1990s as the host of MTV's Total Request Live. He quickly became a pop culture icon before leaving the show in 2002.

Naturally, Daly has grown up a lot since his days at TRL. The 40-year-old father of two has managed to build himself a career similar to his mentor and friend--the late Dick Clark, even hosting his own New Year's Eve special on (where else?) NBC.

Daly is expected to keep his hosting gigs on The Voice and his Radio Countdown Show, but he has announced the end of the line for his time on Last Call. Daly will produce the newly renewed chat show, but he plans to transition in a new host.
