Just like a scene from her old Nickolden show Victorious, Ariana Grande has lost her voice. The actress/singer strained her voice while celebrating the release of her first album Yours Truly. That record, featuring her smash hit song "The Way" (with Mac Miller), debuted this week at No. 1.
Grande suffered a hemorrhaged vocal cord and is under strict doctor's orders not to sing or speak for the next week. Fans of the Sam and Cat star might recall a similar thing happened to her character "Cat Valentine" in the iCarly-Victorious crossover episode.
Just because Grande can't talk, that doesn't mean she can't tweet. Grande took to Twiter to place the blame, at the same time celebrating the release of her debut record for busting her pipes:
"For those of you asking about my voice, I screamed too much at my party. Totally irresponsible, but it's better now. Thanks for the well wishes."
Grande's Yours Truly--again, already at No. 1 atop the Billboard Top 200--is the first time a woman has debuted in the top spot since Ke$ha's 2010 album, Animal.
Selling over 138,000 copies, Yours Truly managed to beat out Tamar Braxton's Love & War and Nine Inch Nails' long-awaited Hesitation Marks, that band's first album in five years. (See, Trent, that's what you get for hesitating!)
Apropos, then, the hard-working 20-year-old deserves some time to relax with her friends, tweeting thusly:
"First day off in forever...vocal rest and watching movies in with my best friend @alexaluria. Dunno what I'd do without her."
Ariana Grande has been working her entire life, ever since her start on Broadway at the age of 13. And it looks as if the talented artist has quite the bright future ahead of her.
Of course, we wish her a speedy recovery.
