Many fans have a lot of questions about Ashton Kutcher, including whether or not the actor is now a Republican. This week, however, most of the gossip centered around whether or not he is engaged to his girlfriend, Mila Kunis. These rumors follow his separation and planned divorce from actress Demi Moore.
Talk that Ashton is now a Republican stems from a somewhat-puzzling speech he delivered at the Teen Choice Awards. While accepting an award, many wondered if he was punking the young audience when he told them:
"I believe that opportunity looks a lot like hard work. I've never had a job in my life that I was better than. I was always just lucky to have a job. And every job I had was a steppingstone to my next job, and I never quit my job until I had my next job."
For some reason, conservatives latched onto his speech and automatically assumed that this means Kutcher has joined their ranks. Of course, in the last election cycle Kutcher donated over $50,000 to Democratic candidates, including Barack Obama.
Conservative broadcasters wouldn’t let the facts get in the way as they proudly declared him their own. Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin were gushing over the That 70s Show actor. Beck dedicated significant time out of his broadcast to tell his audience:
"It's a fairly safe to say that viewers don't tune in to the Teen Choice Awards in hopes of hearing an incredibly insightful advice about the hard work of hard work perseverance and dreaming because that's exactly what they got there."
The focus this week, however, was on whether or not the dreamy “hard worker” is engaged to his girlfriend Mila Kunis. The rumor mill went into full swing when Kunis was photographed with a gold band on her ring finger.
Naturally, the tabloids picked up on the fodder and claimed it as fact. In reality, the actor is still married to his estranged wife, actress Demi Moore. The two are, however, separated.
