Despite being thought of as the modeling industry's standard of beauty for the past few years, 23-year-old Cara Delevingne recently announced that she has quit the catwalk to pursue acting full-time. According to the latest gossip news updates, St Vincent's beautiful girlfriend is said to have had plenty of support from her friends -- especially fellow supermodel bestie, Kendall Jenner. Fellow model turned actress Emily Ratajkowski explained that she also completely understands and supports Cara decision to leave the world of Burberry and Victoria's Secret behind for Hollywood, though she thinks that both industries share some of the exact same foibles.
While many of the experts in the modeling industry thought Cara Delevingne was going to be the next Kate Moss, the Paper Towns star told the UK's Times that as time went on she grew more and more uncomfortable with the thought of putting her body out on display for the entire world to sit and judge:
"I am not doing fashion work anymore, after having, like, psoriasis and all that stuff.
"Modelling just made me feel a bit hollow after a while. It didn't make me grow at all as a human being. And I kind of forgot how young I was...I felt so old."
No one would argue that the decision to leave modeling wasn't all her own, but one insider told Hollywood Life that Kendall Jenner and the rest of Delevingne's friends did go a long way in supporting her through the transition:
"Her friends are very supportive. They think she's doing the right thing.
"Kendall has been one of her biggest fans. She and her whole family pushed Cara to make the jump and quit modeling in order to focus on acting."
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gone Girl actress Emily Ratajkwski, who originally came to fame as a dancer in Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" music video, explained that she defiantly understands why Cara would want to leave modeling for acting, but isn't so sure that she is going to escape all the issues that brought about her psoriasis (via 3News):
"I think every experience is different.
"Definitely, I feel like acting is much more creatively fulfilling and I think Cara is very creative person, as am I, and so, we want more.
"I think the pressures are the same in both industries, like 'stay fit' and all that kind of stuff.
"I think also, it's important to know who you are."
What do you think about Cara's quitting modeling?
Is it a mistake for her to start burning bridges so soon into her movie career?
