Batman v Superman might be the big screen showdown that DC fans are waiting for, but this fall it's going to be Batman v Supergirl. CBS’s all new Supergirl series is going to head with Fox’s returning hit Gotham. The premiere season of the new drama will be competing with Season 2 of the Batman prequel.
CBS’s chairman, Nina Tassler spoke up about the decision to put Supergirl head to head with Gotham at the 2015 Television Critics Association press tour, saying (via IGN):
“Well, I think that they’re different audiences. I think Supergirl has a much bigger, broader audience. It’s more family entertainment. And they look different, they feel different.”
“We had 14.1 million streams of the [Supergirl] trailer. I don’t think anyone is worried about, 'Oh my god, there’s not enough audience out there to watch both those shows.' I think there will be.”
Season 2 of Gotham will feature Bruce Wayne starting his journey to becoming the Batman , as David Mazouz recently told ComicBook.com:
“Season Two is really going to be the transformation from Bruce Wayne to Batman. In season one, Bruce Wayne was grieving. He was determined, but he was determined to find out more about his parents and learn more about who his dad was, and what Wayne Enterprises was, but he wasn’t Batman. In season two, Bruce IS going to be Batman. His transformation is going to be huge in season two.”
