Princess Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William of Wales were not invited to the Diana movie premiere. The royals didn’t seem too concerned, however, as they are busy planning baby George Alexander Louis’ christening.
Most people would kill for the chance to meet the royal family, especially Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton. Robert Bernstein, producer of the Diana biopic, happens to be the exception.
The world premiere of the film opened in London yesterday and none of the royal family was invited. A spokesman for the movie told Radar Online that only guests of the cast and crew were in attendance.
That probably suits them just fine, especially considering that the film has been murdered by nearly every critic. One of the most damning reviews came from the U.K. based newspaper The Guardian:
“I hesitate to use the term ‘car crash drama’ but the awful truth is that, 16 years after that terrible day in 1997, [Diana] has died another awful death. This is due to an excruciatingly well-intentioned, reverential and sentimental biopic about her troubled final years, laced with bizarre cardboard dialog--a tabloid fantasy of how famous and important people speak in private."
Even if they were invited, it’s unlikely that they would have attended. After all, the makers of the film did not get permission from the Queen.
Also, Will and Kate have been super busy since the birth of their first child, Prince George Alexander Louis. Not only have they been adjusting to life as parents, but they are also planning an upcoming christening.
George is expected to be baptized later this month or October at the latest. While this is a small event for close friends and family, some big decisions have to be made prior to its occurrence.
For example, Kate and Will will have to chose six different godparents for George.
