It was recently announced that Arsenio Hall will be returning to late-night. This announcement follows the news that Jay Leno will be preparing for his last Tonight Show appearance. Leno will be replaced by Jimmy Fallon, who is scheduled to take over the classic late-night program in 2014.
It’s been nearly 20 years since Arsenio Hall hosted his own late-night show. All of that is about to change though, as Hall will soon be returning to the small screen.
This has been a long time coming. After all, he hasn’t held down a steady show since 1994. Now, his new show will be premiering in just a few days on September 9. Hall is excited by what it means to return to TV, but he’s also nervous, saying:
"You know how certain things make you nervous? I don't like to fly, but once I'm on the plane and we're over the Rockies and I'm watching a movie, I'm fine. Right now I feel like I do when I'm in the airport. I don't even know if I can live through that first minute," he said excitedly. "You come out there, back after a billion years, there's gonna be all kind of animal noises and people screaming. What do you say? 'It was a long ******* hiatus'?"
Arsenio isn’t the only comedian facing a change in employment. Longtime Tonight Show host Jay Leno will soon be out of job.
The comic’s last show will be in February of next year...unless he decides to claw himself back like he did during the Conan debacle.
