Amanda Bynes Mental Illness Update: Needed Extra Security For Her Health in Psychiatric Ward

Amanda Bynes is still at UCLA being treated for her severe mental illness. It was alleged this week that she switched hospitals because she needed additional security from the psychiatric ward.

It has not been a great year for Amanda Bynes, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Of course, that’s only if you believe the latest tabloid reports.

In the most recent edition of OK!, the gossip magazine claimed that Amanda transferred to UCLA because she needed extra security. They quote a source as saying, “It became necessary to move her to a facility where they can give her more supervision.”

OK! has been known to be wrong in the past (most glaringly when it declared, repeatedly, that Jennifer Aniston was pregnant).

Bynes will be in court-ordered treatment until September 30, provided her stay doesn’t getting extended. It seems that an extension will be likely as a judge has already increased the length of her stay twice before.

Initially, she was placed on a 72-hour psych hold. Doctors were quick to ask the court for more time, as Amanda was not responding to treatment. After a month, it became clear that even more time was needed. Her medical team believes that the actress suffers from bi-polarity and schizophrenia.

Before her institutionalization, Amanda made national headlines for erratic and sad tweets. Generally, she would just call other celebrities “ugly” and personally asked President Obama to intervene in her legal troubles.

While this just seemed a bit odd at the time, Amanda’s well-being was called into question when she started a fire in a neighbor's driveway. After the incident, it became clear that Amanda didn’t even know the woman whose driveway she set on fire.
