David Hasselhoff Convenience Store Cutouts Stolen As Clerk Was Critically Injured, Baywatch Actor Reaches Out on Twitter

Two lifesize cutouts of David Hasselhoff have been stolen from multiple convenience stores. In one theft, a clerk was critically injured when he tried to prevent the robbery. The 61-year-old former Baywatch actor, reached out to the injured clerk on Twitter.

It’s a new trend that absolutely no one could have predicted--adults are stealing lifesize cutouts of the Hoff from Cumberland Farms convenience stores. On August 20, however, the game of theft turned potentially deadly.

When three adults tried stealing the cutouts, a clerk in Shelton, Connecticut nearly lost his life. The male employee ran into the parking lot to prevent the thievery and was hit by their getaway vehicle.

The 36-year-old clerk was last listed in critical condition. He was critically injured after the car that struck him also dragged him through the street. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. and is not an isolated event.

550 of the cutouts have been stolen from the convenience stores since the program first began. They are part of a iced coffee promotion, entitled “Iced Hoffee.”

When the Hoff found about the injury, he took to Twitter. The actor tweeted:

"I am shocked & truly saddened about the Cumberland farms store clerk tragedy My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with him and his family! WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS HOW I FEEL AT THIS MOMENT PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO SAY A PRAYER THAT HE MAKES A FULL RECOVERY!!"

We too wish the clerk a speedy and full recovery.
