Many rumors have been flying concerning the upcoming film, Fifty Shades of Grey. Finally, we have received some actual confirmation about the cast. Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson have officially been named the leads.
EL James went from relative obscurity to international best-seller in less than a year. Now, her Twitter is where you go to for breaking Hollywood announcements. At least that’s what it was like on Monday, when the author revealed the cast of the upcoming film.
Who has been cast as Anastasia and Christian? The answer may surprise you. According to EL James:
"I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."
Since the project was announced in March of last year, the tabloids have been having a field day with their endless speculation. Numerous claims were made about who would land the highly coveted roles.
Most of them got it wrong, except for Entertainment Weekly. Last month, they accurately predicted that the role of Anastasia would be filled by Dakota.
Dakota is no stranger to Hollywood, herself. Her dad is Don Johnson and her mom is Melanie Griffith.
Charlie Hunnam is best known for his breakout performance in FX’s Sons of Anarchy series.
