Lil Wayne 2013 New Music and Health Update: Improves Alongside Mixtape ‘Dedication 5’ Release

Despite undergoing major health scares in 2013, Lil Wayne has officially released some new music. His mixtape ‘Dedication 5’ was officially released over the weekend, while the international rapper’s health continues to improve.

Before the mixtape’s scheduled Saturday release, Lil Wayne struck panic into the hearts of his fans by announcing that there would be a delay.

In a written statement published on his website, he explained that:

“The release of Dedication 5 has been temporarily postponed for a short period while Wayne puts finishing touches on it--including another new song. Stay tuned for an update”

As one might expect, it created some major waves on social media networks like Facebook and Twitter. Mack Maine, president of Cash Money, took to Twitter to refute rumors that the album would be significantly delayed. He tweeted simply, “Delayed for a few hours not days and weeks.”

Wayne must welcome any press these days that doesn’t involve his health. For months, tabloids have speculated that the young rapper was dying.

Back in March, Lil Wayne thought that it was necessary to address rumors claiming that it was drug use which lead to his multiple seizures. He refuted these claims on Power 106, where he explained that he suffers from epilepsy:

"The bad news is I'm an epileptic, I'm prone to seizures. Like, this isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures, y'all just never hear about them. But this time it got real bad 'cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could've died, so that is why it was so serious. But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself."
