Gun Loving Ted Nugent Wife Arrested 2013: Firearm with Ammo in Airport, After Trayvon Martin Comments [UPDATE]

Ted Nugent, the gun loving ‘patriot,’ saw his wife Shemane arrested. This recent 2013 event stemmed from bringing a firearm, full of ammo, into an area airport. The arrest follows controversial comments Ted made about the murder of Trayvon Martin.

The 51-year-old reality star was arrested at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, after police discovered a loaded handgun in her carry-on luggage. The rocker’s wife was trying to catch a flight on Thursday, headed to Fort Lauderdale, Fl.

When questioned by police, Shemane told investigators that she forgot the gun was in her bag. This strikes many as odd, considering how safe the couple claim guns are. Seems like not even remembering where you put a loaded firearm could potentially be unsafe.

After all, Ted did tell Glenn Beck back in 2012:

“Last week my wife Shemane and I were filming a segment for our Spirit of the Wild show and we were shooting at watermelons surrounded by human silhouette targets just as kind of a competition and from 20 feet and from 20 yards and we were shooting from every imaginable angle, under cover, from sitting, from squatting, from prone position, from behind cover and from in the open, and we never hit an innocent and we never missed the watermelon,” Nugent told Glenn Beck in an interview in 2012.

Earlier this year, Ted made headlines for suggesting that George Zimmerman sue Trayvon Martin’s family:

"Trayvon Martin’s vicious attack on George Zimmerman and Martin’s tragic death have no doubt surely dragged Mr. Zimmerman through 18 months of untold emotional hell, pain, distress, anguish, fatigue, nightmares and financial ruin. Again, following the narrative of the pro-Trayvon media types and other race-baiters, if Trayvon Martin was a minor, then Trayvon Martin’s parents may be held liable for the emotional pain and suffering Mr. Zimmerman has been put through for the past 18 months, and surely for the rest of his life."
