Recently, Lucy Lawless got fans super excited when she teased a possible reboot of the famous Xena: Warrior Princess series. However, it looks we might be not getting the remake after all. Lawless, who recently appeared in ABC and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and is gearing up to appear in the Ash vs The Evil Dead, recently announced on Twitter that the Xena remake is just a rumor.
Recently, Lucy Lawless revealed that she has been pushing for a Xena: The Warrior Princess reboot, telling Den of Geek:
“I’ve been pitching that, actually,” Lawless said. “The fans really do want that, and I’ve met some people who’ve crowdfunded some things, and I’m just like, ‘Why don’t we just do that?’..It’s still about who owns the rights to Xena. But it would still be cool to do it again with Renée [O’Connor], me, Ted [Raimi], and Bruce [Campbell]. It’d be a fun little gig, but what that is I don’t really know.”
There is the one little problem of Xena being dead, but Lawless isn’t really concerned about that, as she went on to add:
“So what? Technicality! No one really dies! Screw her head back on, it’s a bit wonky, and she’s got a really bad attitude since she’s been in a box for 20 years, so they’ve got to get Xena’s mojo back, and go and save the world somehow.”
What do you think? Would you like to see a Xena: Warrior Princess reboot? Would you rather it be a remake? How should they bring Xena back to life? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
