Amanda Bynes mental illness is more critical than originally thought in 2013. It was revealed yesterday that the bisexual actress needs long-term hospitalization after being diagnosed with schizophrenia. The mandatory hospitalization comes after she started a fire at a neighbor’s home.
Bynes will remain under psychiatric care until the end of the year, according to reports offered by Radar Online. The gossip site has quoted a source familiar with the case, who claimed:
“Doctors have been observing Amanda, and there has been some improvement...however, her diagnosis is complex, and the appropriate drug cocktail to treat her hasn't been achieved yet. Therefore, her treatment team believes Amanda would benefit from prolonged treatment at UCLA, for at least the rest of the year. She has her good days and bad days, and the goal is obviously to get her therapeutic and stable before being released. Lynn needs to be granted permanent conservatorship because Amanda wouldn't agree to continue with treatment."
Bynes mandatory psychiatric evaluation stems from a July 22 incident where the actress set a fire in a stranger’s driveway. Not only did she scorch a neighbor's lawn, but the explosion covered both her and her dog in gasoline.
The extended treatment caught some fans by surprise, considering numerous reports indicated that the actress was quickly improving at her new treatment center, UCLA. Even her cousin went on record, saying the actress was getting better.
Of course, these announcements got swallowed by the noise generated when it was revealed that Amanda is bisexual. According to a source that spoke to Perez:
“She didn’t really hide it or keep it a secret with those that were close to her, which wasn’t really a lot of people. But she was sexually and romantically involved with a close female friend of hers. And a couple times she even had more than one woman in bed with her. She worried that her parents would be upset about it and it’s not a label she wanted publicly. But I don’t really even know if Amanda is sure of her sexuality. I think she was just a little lost and yearning for love and attention anywhere she could get it.”
