Mark-Anthony Turnage and Richard Thomas' 'Anna Nicole' at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden [PHOTOS]

Like we said we would, Classicalite is pleased to share Reuters photog Andrew Winning's shots from the opening night--February 17, 2011--of Anna Nicole at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Mark-Anthony Turnage and Richard Thomas' opera was commissioned by the central London institution.

As per his interview with New York Magazine's Justin Davidson, though, it appears that Turnage may be having second thoughts about writing this one.

All the same, Anna Nicole will see her American première soon enough at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

One more time, here's the boilerplate from BAM, programmed as part of the 2013 Next Wave Festival:

"Looking to each paparazzi-plagued chapter of the star's story--the bombshell centerfold, the devastated mother, the unlikely wife of an 89-year-old billionaire--Anna Nicole captures a woman caught between greed and exploitation. Turnage's vibrant, eclectic score (performed by the New York City Opera orchestra and chorus) and Thomas' razor-sharp libretto drive this operatic portrait, at once comic and tragic, of modern celebrity and one woman's warped pursuit of the American dream."
