Kelly Clarkson recently canceled her big wedding plans to fiance Brandon Blackstock. The couple will elope, which makes Clarkson (who loves being a mom) happy.
Kelly has officially called off her wedding to Brandon Blackstock, who is the stepson of country music legend Reba McEntire. The two will still wed, however, the ceremony has been called off.
Instead the two will elope and only have Blackstock’s two children in attendance. Planning a big wedding proved more than Kelly was able to handle, as she revealed to People Magazine:
"We just got so overwhelmed by it--all the decisions. I have a Christmas record coming out. I'm doing a bunch of stuff with State Farm right now. We have two kids who just started school. We're going to all these football games and soccer games and volleyball games and [Brandon]'s got one of the biggest artists [Blake Shelton] in country music. He's flying everywhere."
She went on to describe why she felt that the ceremony wasn’t necessary, telling the publication:
"Our whole life is a celebration. That's what we kept laughing about. We don't need another day where we throw a big party. Our lives are so in the spotlight all the time. Everything is such a spectacle, we were like, 'We would rather have an intimate moment that's special.'”
Clarkson may not enjoy planning a big event, but she definitely loves being a mom. She gushed about being a parent to Blackstock’s two children:
"I have a 12-year-old and a 6-year-old now…after being single for six years! We all live together and everything … it’s so different, but it’s perfect. They’re awesome and I actually really dig the mom thing…I am quick to go, 'I told you not to touch that!’…I am totally my mom. My mom was a hard mom."
