‘Teen Beach Movie 3:’ Garrett Clayton Talks New Film in Theaters Like Zac Efron ‘HSM’

The Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie 2 was just released and already fans can not get enough. Demand in growing for a third film in franchise. Recently, Tanner actor Garrett Clayton opened up about the possibility of returning for a Teen Beach Movie 3. Fans of the High School Musical franchise will remember that the trilogy started on The Disney Channel before moving to the big screen for the final installment. Could Garrett Clayton be following in Zac Efron’s footsteps?

Recently, Garrett Clayton spoke to Variety about the possibility of a third Teen Beach Movie:

“I always say it depends on the script and the story you’re going to tell. I think we’ve all kind of said if it’s a good script, why wouldn’t we want to make it? I have my own personal ideas of what it should be, but that’s just me.”

Garrett went on to add that if a third movie is made that he wants it to follow the High School Musical format, and premier in theaters:

“I feel like we would have established a solid enough fanbase at that point that the audience is there for it so they would want to see it because they’d want to see how the story ends -- especially if they’ve committed to being obsessed with two films.”

However, despite wanting to follow the HSM pattern, Clayton is not so sure about the constant comparisons to Zac Efron. Recently, Clayton spoke to Flaunt Magazine, about living in Zac Efron’s shadow(via J-14):

“People compare us so much. I think everyone expects me to want to be like him. [Zac] was more of the romantic leading man. Whereas I’m kind of like the funny best friend a lot of the time. I just want to be able to be a character actor.”
