Princess Kate and Prince William seem perfectly happy to break some of the traditions that surround the royal family. Specifically, their raising of Prince George Alexander Louis seems to differ from past monarchs. SPOILER ALERT: It’s pretty refreshing.
Their separation from traditions of the past began almost immediately following the birth of Prince George. Instead of being chauffeured from the hospital to the palace, William decided to drive his family home, himself.
While this seems like small news, it certainly generated big headlines. This marked the first time in recent history that a royal would drive themselves home, especially after a spectacle as big as Prince George’s birth.
It was also rumored that Kate Middleton would be breastfeeding the child. While this may or may not be true, it would be reminiscent of Princess Diana’s mothering. And, as you are likely aware, she too chose to differentiate herself from Kings and Queens of old.
Another major difference between Prince Harry and Kate is their decision to release family photos that were not taken by a professional photographer. Instead Kate’s dad, Michael Middleton, snapped the worldwide famous pics, as The Toronto Sun reports:
“The photos are a far cry from the formal photographs released of Prince William a month after his birth in 1982 in which he was alert and wearing a long, laced gown. The pictures with his mother, the late Princess Diana, and father Prince Charles were taken by his great-uncle, photographer Lord Snowden.”
Of course, it is early on in their parenting, and the couple could choose to take a more aristocratic method. That, however, seems unlikely.
