Presented by Telemundo and mun2, this popular series of free outdoor concerts kicks off this Sunday, July 15th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm with exciting performances by Mexican norteno group Los Rieleros del Norte, Mexican pop band Jotdog, and Mexican cumbia group El Conjunto Nueva Ola. The event will include raffles, giveaways and a special appearance by Mauricio Ochmann, Carla Hernandez and Lupita Ferrer, lead actors of Telemundo's new production "Rosa Diamante," as well as renowned actor Miguel Varoni, who directed the new novela. Portions of the concerts will be broadcast through "Reventon" and "18 and Over" on the mun2 network.
With a career that spans 25 years, Los Rieleros del Norte are a musical institution of Norteno music. Their latest production, "Siempre imitado, jamas igualado (Always imitated, never equaled)," reached No. 1 on Billboard magazine's Regional Mexican Airplay chart for more than nine consecutive weeks. The duo Jotdog became an instant sensation with their signature "sinister pop." Their first single, "Hasta Contar a Mil," reached the Top 10 of radio charts in Mexico, becoming the best-selling song on iTunes Mexico. Jotdog was nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album Duo or Group at the 11th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. Up-and-coming group El Conjunto Nueva Ola is composed by six masked and mysterious men, a musical concept that is revolutionizing popular music by fusing new wave, rock and disco sounds to the rhythm of cumbia.
On August 12th, Descarga features up-and-coming corrido singer Mario "El Cachorro" Delgado, young and successful corrido music group Grupo Escolta, and leading Regional Mexican music singer/actor Rogelio Martinez. The August 19th event features legendary tropical and merengue music singer Elvis Crespo and fusion music band Grupo Treo. The last Descarga concert of 2012 on August 26th is headlined by Mexican Pop music sensation Belinda, with performances by Guatemalan jazz, soul and blues singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno, R&B and Pop music sensation Eli Jas, and Dominican performer Leslie Grace.
