Comic-Con 2015 is almost here and DC Comics & Warner Brothers Studios are gearing up for a big push. Not only are the entire Justice League cast expected to be announced and on hand for the event. Recently, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder took a few shots at Marvel’s Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, basically accusing the film of copying Man of Steel.
Recently, during a Comic-Con preview interview with Entertainment Weekly, Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder opened up about the the collateral damage at the end of Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, comparing it to The Man of Steel (via HeroicUniverse):
“I wаs surprisеd bесаusе thаt’s thе thеsis оf Supеrmаn fоr mе, thаt yоu саn’t just hаvе supеrhеrоеs knосk аrоund аnd hаvе thеrе bе nо соnsеquеnсеs,. Thеrе аrе оthеr supеrhеrо mоviеs whеrе thеy jоkе аbоut hоw bаsiсаlly nо оnе’s gеtting hurt. Thаt’s nоt us.”
This is far from the first time members of one comic company lashed out against the other group. Robert Downey Jr famously had a few things to say about Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight back in 2008, telling Movie Hole (via SlashFilm):
“The Dark Knight. My whole thing is that that I saw The Dark Knight. I feel like I’m dumb because I feel like I don’t get how many things that are so smart. It’s like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I’m like, ‘That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ I loved The Prestige but didn’t understand The Dark Knight. Didn’t get it, still can’t tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I’m like, ‘I get it. This is so high brow and so f*cking smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.’ You know what? F*ck DC comics. That’s all I have to say and that’s where I’m really coming from.”
What do you think about Zack Snyder’s comments? Do you think that Age of Ultron’s ending was just an over-the-top version of what Snyder did in Man of Steel?
