‘Star Trek’ George Takei Talks Gay Marriage with Donald Trump on MSNBC News

While appearing on MSNBC’s Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, Star Trek star, Howard Stern Show announcer and openly gay pop culture icon George Takei opened up about a conversation he had with Donald Trump regarding gay marriage. The Celebrity Apprentice Season 5 (Apprentice Season 12) contestant shared the details of a same-sex vs traditional marriage conversation that he had with his former boss.

Recently, George Takei spoke to Lawrence O’Donnell about a lunch conversation he had with Presidential hopeful Donald Trump:

“He said, ‘You know what, George, I just came from a gay marriage.’ And he told me, ‘They are good friends of mine, it was a beautiful marriage. They’re wonderful friends.’ And I said, ‘Then why can’t you support marriage equality? You go to weddings of same-sex couples.’ And he said, ‘Well, I’m for traditional marriage.’”

Takei was quick to point out that Trump is currently on his third marriage, adding:

“That is not traditional. And I approve of his three-time marriage, because you want to find the person that you love … I think Donald Trump’s interpretation of marriage is something that he really himself doesn’t really believe in.”

Takei is not too convinced that Trump actually believes what he is saying, stateing:

“I think he’s a businessman. I think he’s capable of saying anything that will be good for business or in whatever situation he should find himself in.”
