Fox News is undergoing quite a lineup change. At the heart of it is Megyn Kelly and Sean Hannity. Kelly will be taking Mr. Hannity’s prime time slot, and he has finally addressed the controversial move as well as Michael Savage’s statements that claimed he would be taking over Hannity’s radio program. In related news, Fox announced Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s official start date.
Could things get any worse for Sean Hannity? Despite having fairly solid ratings, Fox News has decided to remove Sean Hannity from the 9:00 p.m. time slot. He will be replaced by Megyn Kelly when the broadcaster returns from maternity leave.
On his morning talk radio show (which many believe will be canceled at the end of the year), Mr. Hannity addressed being replaced by Kelly:
“Let’s just say in the end I’m very happy. That’s all I can say at this point. It’s pretty funny. I love people speculating. Because everybody thinks they know everything and they don’t.”
These statements come a few days after it was announced that Cumulus would likely not renew the contracts of both Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. While there are radio networks that would kill for the ratings he delivers, the announcement came at a pretty bad time.
Making matters worse, Michael Savage went on the attack, claiming that he would be filling Hannity’s shoes. He told his radio audience that:
"I predict, right here, right now, that I, Michael Savage, and the 'Savage Nation' is going to take over 'The Sean Hannity Show' time slot by the end of the year. I am the heir apparent to afternoon drive on the East Coast and around America on Cumulus stations, which have the most powerful stations in the radio world. He's probably a nice guy, but his time has come and his time has gone.”
Hannity responded simply by asking, “If I wasn’t hated, I wouldn’t be doing my job now would I?”
Aside from all of this drama, there was some good news. Fox News finally announced when Elisabeth Hasselbeck would be starting at the conservative news network.
She will be joining the cast of Fox and Friends on September 16. Good luck Elisabeth!
