Fox News has finally announced Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s start date. In related news, Sean Hannity still remains silent on the fact that Megyn Kelly is getting his old time slot. Gretchen Carlson has also been promoted to a new show and time.
On Thursday, the nation’s most popular (and conservative) news network announced that their newest anchor, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, would begin work on September 16.
She will be joining Fox’s morning show, Fox and Friends. She will be joining Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, who have hosted the show since 1998.
Of course, they had a little assistance over that time, provided by Gretchen Carlson. Mrs. Carlson, however, also received a promotion.
She will be taking over Megyn Kelly’s old timeslot in the afternoon. There is no word as to whether or not the show’s name will change, but pundits are guessing that it will.
Kelly, also, will receive a major promotion. She will be taking over Sean Hannity’s old timeslot, directly following Bill O’Reilly. Mr. O’Reilly has had the number one rated cable news show for an unbelievable amount of time.
Of course, this does create more controversy for the already embattled Sean Hannity. Mr. Hannity has manned the time slot Megyn is taking for a number of years and Fox has not commented on where Hannity will be going.
They have, however, confirmed that they have a longtime contract with the conservative pundit. No word has been given as to his future plans on the network.
This marks the biggest lineup change in the history of Fox News, which continues to dominate the cable news market. Still, Fox CEO Roger Ailes feels confident in their decision, especially when it comes to Elisabeth:
“Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on The View. She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist, and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”
