‘Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron’ Rumors: Cast Updates, Elizabeth Olsen Takes Role Offered to Saoirse Ronan [SPOILERS]

It's rumor season for 2015's Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron, and the latest casting prediction has everyone spellbound. Actress Elizabeth Olsen is reportedly being looked at for the role of the Scarlet Witch, which was believed to be turned down by Saoirse Ronan.

It's no secret that writer/director Joss Whedon has a thing for the ladies. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator is quite fond of his tough female leads. So it's only natural that Whedon would want to add another heroine into the mostly male-dominated Avengers cast.

Bleeding Cool News is reporting that Whedon is eyeing actress Elizabeth Olsen to play Wanda Maximoff a.k.a The Scarlet Witch. Olsen is rumored to be the director’s second choice after Saoirse Ronan reportedly turned down the role.

Olsen, the younger sister of Full House stars Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, will also appear in the upcoming Godzilla reboot.

Wanda Maximoff isn't your typical Disney Princess. When it comes to the Marvel Universe, few females (or even males for that matter) pack as much power as The Scarlet Witch.

The Scarlet Witch has the ability to warp reality which has been used to turn the entire Marvel Universe on it's head a time of two.

Maximoff and her twin brother Quicksilver are the offspring of the mutant villain Magneto. But don't look for any Avengers/X-Men crossovers, as 20th Century Fox currently holds the film rights to the X-Men franchise.

However, Quicksilver is set to appear in both 2015’s Disney/Marvel's Avengers 2 and 2014’s Fox's X-Men Days of Future Past, with American Horror Story actor Evan Peters playing the role in the latter.

How do you think the Avengers cast is assembling so far? Does Elizabeth Olsen have what it takes stand side by side with The Black Widow and the boys?
