1989 pop superstar Taylor Swift seems to be enjoying being off the singles market for the first time in a long time, but it apparently still comes with a drawback of two. According to the latest gossip news updates, the "Bad Blood" video vixen is nonplused about her boyfriend, Calvin Harris, smoking cigarettes and has told him that he needs to stop to keep her happy. Taylor's friends couldn't be happier with her habit of bringing everyone together, however. HBO's Girls showrunner, Lena Dunham and New Zealand singer, Lorde, recently came together to talk about how much the respected their "Black Space" bestie and her efforts to turn their A-list posse into a tight-knit all girls group of super-friends.
Being that she's used to her usual boyfriends fooling around on her, Taylor Swift isn't about to dump 31-year-old EDM DJ Calvin Harris just for smoking a cigarette or two.
One source claiming to be close to the couple explains in the June 28, issue of Life & Style that Calvin is already on his way to becoming smoke free thanks to Taylor's cajoling:
"She's explained to Calvin that it's not a deal breaker, but she's worried about his health.
"[But] Calvin wants to please Taylor...he hasn't quit smoking yet, but he's managed to cut back."
According to the source, Taylor doesn't nag Harris so much make him go through a whole rigmarole after each smoke break if he wants to get close to her again:
"She's confessed that sometimes his smoker's breath turns her off.
"That's why she insists he brush his teeth and uses mouthwash after he's been puffing...She doesn't want him ruining their makeout sessions!"
It that dedication to bringing out the best in people that Taylor's friends so love about her.
During a recent chat together for Dazed and Confused magazine, Lena Dunham and Lorde talked about just how appreciative they were of Swift managing to put together their all girl group of friends.
29-year-old Dunham confessed that even though Taylor's younger, she kind of looks up to her as a matriarch of their little family of super-famous friends (via Us Weekly):
"Speaking of camp mother, I feel that Taylorhas really taken control and said, 'I'm going to get us all together in the same place, I'm going to make it very clear that friendship is powerful and women are magic and if anybody thinks this is a witches' coven they might be right.'
"She's just made it her job in a very cool way."
For 18-year-old Lorde, Taylor most seems to represent the understanding and acceptance that she finds most comforting about friendship:
"For me, someone starts talking about boys and I'm like, 'I just don't know what to say.' I'm useless in that capacity and that was why I thought, 'Well, I can't have girl friends [because] I don't know how to talk about boys.'
"But Taylor just glosses over the fact that I'm terrible at that and she's just like, 'It's okay, I'll love you for your other qualities.'"
Sounds like we should all hope to be as lucky as to one day have a friend like Taylor Swift.
