Amanda Bynes Mental Health Update: Schizophrenic and Bipolar Illness Being Transferred to UCLA

Time for another Amanda Bynes mental health update. The young actress who has been described as both schizophrenic and bipolar, is seeking new treatment. Late last week, she was transferred to UCLA Medical Center, in order to better treat her mental illness.

The troubled actress left Hillmont Psychiatric Center on Thursday. The starlet draped a large white sheet around herself, in an effort to block her view from the lurking paparazzi.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work. Sources revealed that Amanda is being transferred to UCLA Medical Center, which specializes in mental illness. That is the same hospital that Britney Spears credits with helping her with the mental illness issues she struggled with.

It’s believed that her mother played a key role in getting the celebrity transferred, after having been granted conservatorship of the actress in recent weeks.

Bynes court-ordered hospitalization began back in July, when the 27-year-old actress began acting erratically. Amanda made national headlines when she let a fire in a total stranger’s driveway.

In the process, the young actress inadvertently covered her own dog and herself in gasoline, rushing to a local gas station to clean up, sans pants.

At the time, a judge ordered Bynes to a 72-hour psych hold. This was ultimately extended to September 30, after Bynes’ mental illness appeared to worsen.

While there has been no hard confirmation on what exactly Ms. Bynes is suffering from, it is believed that she is both bipolar and schizophrenic. Court documents indicate that is the preliminary diagnosis of her doctors.

We at Classicalite wish Ms. Bynes a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with her family at this very troubling time.
