Irena Walker, a Romanian princess, was arrested. She is the daughter of exiled king, Michael I, who was the last King of Romania. Mrs. Walker and her husband were both arrested in connection with an Oregon cock fighting ring.
On Thursday, 18 arrests were made, throughout Washington and Oregon, in relation to an illegal cock fighting ring. Of them, only one was an actual princess...well, sort of.
Irene Walker is a princess...or...was a princess. Her pops was King Michael I of Romania. Dad’s probably not that concerned about the controversy though, considering he was run out of the country he once governed.
Of course, he also wasn’t running an illegal gambling operation that centered around fighting roosters, like his third daughter was.
The Justice Department has charged Irene and her husband, John Wesley Walker, with conspiracy to violate the animal Welfare Act by conducting unlawful animal fighting ventures on 10 occasions.
Mr. Walker should be especially ashamed for his actions, considering the fact that he is a former sheriff. Both he and his wife appeared in federal court on Friday to address the issue.
The Walkers plead not guilty to the charges levied against them and were released until their upcoming trial. According to court documents, the cock fights were actually taking place on the couple’s ranch in East Oregon.
If convicted, the couple could face 50 years in jail and millions in fines. Over 20 marijuana plants were also found in the raids, but charges have not yet been filed over the discovered drugs.
