The official plot synopsis for tonight’s back to back Season 3 premiere episodes of Defiance, titled “The World We Seize; The Last Unicorns,” reads:
“In the Season 3 premiere, Nolan and Irisa are mysteriously rescued from their underground confinement just in time to discover that enemy forces are marching on the town of Defiance, which has fallen on hard times following the collapse of the gulanite mines. Meanwhile, Datak, Stahma and Rafe run into deadly complications on their quest to reunite their family; and Alak comes to realize just how unstable her mother-in-law is during their journey through the woods.”
Recently, Grant Bowler spoke with TVLine about what is in store for Nolan this season:
“I’m biased because I play him, but I love what happens with my guy this season. I asked Kevin for something to keep Nolan preoccupied aside from Irisa, because he tends to run around after her a lot, and what he delivered was unbelievable.
“For the first time, Nolan becomes vulnerable in the sense that he falls down. He has always been this kind of unstoppable force of pragmatism that keeps marching forward no matter what happens, and in Season 3 he stumbles and falls, and he can’t get up.
“As a result, we have this development in that [father/daughter] relationship where for the first time she has to become the adult. She has to pick him up off the ground and put him back together, and that was great to play.”
