Amanda Bynes mental health may be slightly improving. This update comes in the wake of a judge’s decision to extend her involuntary stay at a psychiatric hospital. Despite the progress, Bynes' actions still appear to be a bit crazy and erratic.
On Friday, Judge Glen Reiser ordered the troubled starlet to 30 more days of psychiatric treatment. This is the same judge who granted temporary conservatorship to Bynes mother, Lynn. He did, however, tell her to consult with Amanda’s lawyer before making any large purchases or entering into a contract.
Since that order, some reports have been issued that claim Amanda is doing better on a new cocktail of drugs the doctors have given her. Initially she was refusing to take the medication, but the judge’s order allowed the treatment center to forcibly administer the drugs. We are told that this was not necessary.
Bynes was first sentenced to only 72 hours of evaluation, bet her condition appeared so critical that doctors fought to extend the stay. Now, it was both her mother and the hospital that requested the stay.
The initial court-ordered eval came after Bynes set a fire in a stranger‘s driveway. Amanda, in the process, covered her own dog with gasoline.
An alleged fellow patient paints a grim picture, telling Star:
“Amanda regularly talks to herself, walks fast and bangs her head against the walls and doors...She won’t cooperate with staff and acts out when food comes...She tells everyone in the hospital that she is bipolar but doesn’t think it’s a big deal.”
