Spoiler Alert: The CW just aired the Season 1 finale of Rob Thomas’ adaption of the DC Vertigo comic, iZombie, and a whole lot has changed. Major was turned into a zombie and cured. Blaine was cured and Liv’s little brother is desperate need of some zombie blood. Not to mention the massive amount of zombie death. However, one key player in the series was notably absent from the finale. Liv’s best friend and roommate Peyton (Aly Michalka) was no where to be seen/ Peyton flead the apartment after learning Liv’s secret in the penultimate episode. Now show boss Rob Thomas is opening up about Michalka’s absence and if we see Peyton return in Season 2.
Recently, iZombie series developer Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) opened up to TVLine about whether or not Peyton actress Aly Michalka will return for Season 2, and why she was absent from the Season 1 finale:
“There were a certain number of episodes we could use her for, and we had used up our allotment, plus she was doing a pilot (ABC’s Chevy). And if that pilot [is picked up], you might not get her back, so we had to write her in a way that if she didn’t come back, that we’d at least have a reason.”
The Chevy pilot was ultimately not picked up, freeing Aly Michalka for a possible Season 2 return, as Thomas adds:
“She is available to us again, and we hope to see more of her.”
In other news Aly Michalka and her fiance Stephen Ringer recently got married in Italy.
