ABC has finally announced who the new bachelor would be on Season 18 of The Bachelor. They have selected Juan Pablo Galavis, the soccer playing, single father to one daughter.
After the series finale of The Bachelorette, Chris Harrison released the name of America’s next bachelor. Fans were excited, though unlikely shocked, with the producers’ decision.
The ex-pro soccer player, who is now 32, was rejected by the last bachelorette, Desiree Hartsock. Though, he is the pick of many of the ex-bachelorettes who have gone on record.
Fans love him, too. He actually won the distinction of Fan Favorite on the hit reality show.
Of the potential bachelors, Juan may have the most diverse background. He was actually born in the U.S. but left the country when he was 2-years-old.
His family located to the country of Venezuela, and he didn’t return to America until college. Galavis played soccer for Roberts Wesleyan College, before playing professionally in both Miami and Venezuela.
For the most part, Juan is playing it cool. When asked what it was like to accept the offer of becoming the next bachelor, Juan responded:
"It was hard to make the decision. I'm going to find hopefully the person who is going to join me and my daughter. That's what I'm looking for."
Jesse Csincsak, former winner of The Bachelorette, sees this as a logical decision on the producers’ behalf, telling OK! Magazine:
“They always use the person who has the highest-generated buzz, because it rolls into ratings for the next season...Juan Pablo, absolutely.”
