MSNBC has just announced that Alec Baldwin will be getting his own one hour special on the liberal news network. The news comes one day after it was announced that the conservative Fox News anchor, Megyn Kelly would be taking Sean Hannity’s old timeslot, following the birth of her new baby.
It’s been a pretty big week for cable news outlets...with a few shocking surprises. It was revealed that Alec Baldwin, outspoken actor and activist, would be getting a one hour/week special on MSNBC. The show is set to air on Fridays at 10:00 p.m.
Currently, that time slot is filled by repeat episodes of Lockup, a documentary that takes place within the U.S. prison systems. Monday through Thursday, 10:00 p.m., is hosted by Lawrence O’Donnell.
That's not the only cable news change either, according to The Drudge Report. The independent blogger is claiming that Kelly will be bumping Sean Hannity out of the coveted 9:00 p.m. time slot.
While everyone was aware that Kelly was moving from afternoons to prime time, no one expected Kelly to effect Hannity, who has the number two show on the number one cable news network.
Fox News is remaining pretty tight lipped on the subject, but did release the following statement after Drudge’s announcement:
"We will neither confirm nor deny any programming scheduling changes. As previously stated, the network has signed long-term deals with Megyn Kelly, Bret Baier, Shepard Smith, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren."
