Garth Brooks might have a “need to feel the thunder” but he isn’t planning on chasing the Tampa Bay Lighting from the Amalie Arena. The legendary singer was forced to cancel three upcoming shows in Tampa Bay, due to the Tampa Bay lighting making it into the Stanley Cup Finals. The June 6, game in Tampa Bay, takes place in the same arena that Brooks had booked for a three show run the same weekend. Now Garth Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood are addressing the issue of the forced cancellation on Facebook.
Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood released a joint statement via Facebook about the cancellation:
"First of all, we would all like to congratulate the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Chicago Blackhawks for reaching the Stanley Cup Finals. As we now know, Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals is being played on Saturday, June 6th. All parties looked into moving Saturday’s two Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood shows to Sunday. The issue of getting the network crews and their gear out of the building and getting our crews and gear into the building late Saturday/early Sunday for two shows on Sunday raises serious safety concerns. It is because of those safety concerns that the choice is being made to refund all shows and reschedule depending on finding a date that works for both the arena and the tour.”
What do you think about the cancellation? Are you upset that Brooks had to cancel? Are you excited that the Bolts made it into the Stanley Cup Final? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
