Last week it was announced that Walmart had settled a lawsuit with 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan and the other victims of the horrible crash that took the life of James “Jimmy Mack” McNair last June. Now, Morgan has spoken for the first time about the accident and how he learned about the death of this close friend after waking up from a coma.
In his first interview since the accident, Tracy Morgan told Today’s Matt Lauer, about the last time he remembers seeing his friend James “Jimmy Mack” McNair:”
“The Last time i saw Jimmy. Jimmy wrote a joke for me, It was a Donald Sterling joke, And I asked him to come with me the day before and he said ‘I will be there. I Love you, peace.’ He went there, and we did the show and I did the joke and everybody got applause breaks, and I look to the side and I see Jimmy standing there laughing. That was the last time I seen him alive.”
Morgan was unaware of Jimmy’s death until two weeks after the accident when he woke up from a coma.
“When I got home it really hit me,” Morgan added,” and everyday I would watch the accident on Youtube. Than one day I came across his funeral on Youtube and I lost it for about a week.”
No matter how painful it was, Morgan felt that he had to watch the funeral video, adding:
"I had to know what happened to my friend. I had to know. I had to pay my respects, and that was my way."
