Megyn Kelly, the Fox News anchor, will be replacing veteran anchorman Sean Hannity when she returns from maternity leave. Kelly will be taking over the 9:00 p.m. time slot as soon as she gets done snuggling up with her new baby.
Big news is coming out of Fox today, according to The Drudge Report. The independent blogger is claiming that Kelly will be bumping Sean Hannity out of the coveted 9:00 p.m. time slot.
While everyone was aware that Kelly was moving from afternoons to prime time, no one expected Kelly to effect Hannity, who has the number two show on the number one cable news network.
Fox News is remaining pretty tight lipped on the subject, but did release the following statement after Drudge’s announcement:
"We will neither confirm nor deny any programming scheduling changes. As previously stated, the network has signed long-term deals with Megyn Kelly, Bret Baier, Shepard Smith, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren."
So it doesn’t look like Sean Hannity is fired, but he can expect a schedule change when Megyn returns. But, when can Fox News fans expect her return? The answer is a little tricky.
Maternity leave in the U.S. means that a new mother is guaranteed 12 weeks of unpaid leave to spend with their new child (whether the mother gave birth to or adopted the infant).
Since Megyn gave birth to her young child on July 26, 2013, it would appear that the star will return to the small screen before the end of November, which will delight many in the Fox audience.
