Fear not music fans, new features on Apple iPhone 6 may help to protect your music. While there are numerous rumors swirling around the device, many believe that a fingerprint reader and kill switch will be built into the phone. The iPhone 6 will likely have a fall release date as developers are currently working on the device.
If your new iPhone is ever stolen, you may not have to worry about a thief being able to enjoy your Bach collection. Many credible news outlets are reporting that the iPhone 6 will come with a biometric fingerprint reader, which would likely prevent thieves from accessing your most beloved data.
CNN is reporting that:
“The next version of Apple's mobile operating system suggests future iPhones will have biometric scanners that read fingerprints. A user could register his or her prints with the device, then place a thumb on the home button to unlock the phone. Fingerprint verification could also add an extra layer of security when making mobile payments, for example.”
“The rumors got a boost when a beta version of iOS 7 was released Monday night to Apple developers. At least one developer found a folder called "BiometricKitUI" containing lines of code that made numerous references to "fingerprint.”
Your classical music will also remain safe due to the newest feature of iPhone 6, called Kill Switch. The Kill Switch feature will allow a user to erase their data from the phone, including everything from credit card info to Chopin jams, as The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
"The switch will enable a user to deactivate a stolen cell phone via a website. It will prevent a thief from erasing the owner's data from the phone, even if the SIM card - the integrated circuit that includes an owner's password and other identifying information - is removed, Apple said. Once a user throws the kill switch - or activation lock, as Apple calls it - only someone with the registered username and password will be able to unlock it or turn off a homing feature that allows the owner to find it via GPS."
