A new film by Josh and Benny Safdie entitled Heaven Knows What is based on Arielle Holmes' forthcoming memoir, Mad Love in New York City. In the movie, which is based on a book about heroin addiction, Ariel Pink makes a cameo and even contributes to the soundtrack with the single, "I Need a Minute."
With Holmes herself starring in the film, it turns out that Pink was originally considered for the role that ultimately went to Caleb Landry-Jones.
Adding to the musical narrative, Pink shot a phone-based music video for the single that stars both him and Holmes. It features over 200 New York City public bathrooms and can be viewed below.
Pink recently made headlines when he slammed Madonna, who he was asked to co-write with, for having been a downward slide since her first record, Ray of Light. Singer/songwriter Grimes weighed in calling the mop-top rocker a misogynist with Madge also saying she would never "write with mermaids."
As you could imagine, that didn't slow down Pink.
For now, Heaven Knows What opens May 29 at the Sunshine in New York and the Arclight in Los Angeles, with a larger theatrical release set to come.
In the meantime, keep up with the music video below and be on the lookout for the film's release this May.
