Kendra McKenzie Gill, a beauty contestant in the upcoming Miss Utah pageant, was recently arrested. The young woman is accused of throwing bombs in a residential neighborhoodin Riverton.
Ms. Gill has often been referred to as a blonde bombshell, but today that title takes on an entirely different meaning. The 18-year-old reigning Ms. Riverton was arrested on Saturday.
She was taken into jail alongside three other teenagers for throwing homemade bombs into an upscale residential neighborhood. Ironically, the neighborhood is located in the same town that crowned her a beauty queen.
The bombs were crudely constructed with household elements, by mixing water, aluminum foil and cleaning chemicals into water bottles. After constructing these dangerous devices, the teens began throwing them at homes in the area.
Multiple incidents were reported to the police before the kids were apprehended early Saturday morning. While no injuries were reported, damage was done to some of the homes.
Besides Ms. Gill, the others arrested were John Patrick Reagh, Shanna Marie Smith and Bryce Christopher Stone. All parties were booked with suspicion of detonating an incendiary device. 24 hours later the group was released on $50,000 bonds each.
Captain Clint Mecham, from the United Fire Authority, spoke with ABC News and confirmed the incident. He went on to tell the news organization that:
“These devices are extremely dangerous. They can cause property damage and bodily harm. They can even be deadly in some cases.”
Many are speculating that Gill’s involvement in the incident will prevent her from competing in the Miss. Utah contest. The beauty pageant organization, however, did not comment on the ongoing investigation.
