Lindsay Lohan didn’t take herself too seriously as the new host of Chelsea Lately, even if it was just for one day. The star joked about being arrested, her court ordered rehab and her well publicized drug and alcohol abuse.
Overall, Lindsay did a great job as the one-time-only host of Chelsea Handler’s show, Chelsea Lately. Lilo looked healthy and in good spirits leaving many to speculate that her recent stint in court ordered rehab was exactly what she needed.
Of course, Lohan didn’t refer to her treatment in those terms. She addressed the subject in a bit where Lindsay was thanking various celebrities (who are also troubled) for keeping the tabloids in business while she was was away on “Court-ordered vacation in Malibu.”
Among the celebrities she thanked was, naturally, Kanye West. Lohan stirred up big laughs when she asked the audience, ““How come when Kanye acts like an idiot he gets a gold record, but when I act like an idiot I get a police record?”
And all of that was just in the opening monologue. When the show returned from break, Lohan was joined by a panel of three comedians. While many jokes made were at Lohan’s expense, she was in on it and was laughing as much as the rest of them.
She even had some good one-liners about herself, which Entertainment Weekly noted:
“One of the high point of Lohan’s appearance was--as is typical for her--self-deprecating jokes. In addition to laughing at the comics’ remarks about her own public issues (‘Justin Bieber has been on tour longer than you’ve been in rehab’), Lohan landed her own jokes about her problems with alcohol. While commenting about gay-rights activists who dumped vodka to protest Russia’s new policies, Lohan remarked, “Waste of good vodka,” before explaining she was allergic. ‘[I can't drink vodka.] I wind up in rehab or jail,’ she said with a laugh, before seriously adding, ‘Rightfully so.’”
