Lady Gaga New Music 2013 Break: Attacks Russia after Country Declares They May Press Charges Against ‘ARTPOP’ Singer

Lady Gaga took a rare break from making music for her upcoming ARTPOP album and turned her attention towards Russia. This comes after the country declared that they may press charges against the pop singer.

Lady Gaga certainly knows how to use social media. Normally she is plugging her wildly popular music. Today, however, she used social networking site Twitter to attack the Russian government, telling the tyrannical country:

"Sending bravery to LGBTs in Russia. The rise in government abuse is archaic. Hosing teenagers with pepper spray? Beatings? Mother Russia? "The Russian government is criminal. Oppression will be met with revolution. Russian LGBTs you are not alone. We will fight for your freedom...Why didn't you arrest me when you had the chance, Russia? Because you didn't want to answer to the world?"

Promoting equality isn’t the only thing the pop icon uses her platform to promote. She also uses it to promote her upcoming projects.

July 26 was as big day for all the Little Monsters out there. Gaga officially released the deets of her new single, “Applause” and provided fans with the artwork from the upcoming single.

The National Post took on the cover and offered insight into the brain of Gaga:

“The artsy tone of the ‘Applause’ cover image fits into Gaga’s canon of work which can be considered performance art in the form of fashion and popular music. The most obvious examples include her meat dress at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards and her arrival at the 2011 Grammy Awards in an egg. Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, often writes about the nature of celebrity and fame, most notably with her 2008 debut The Fame and 2009 EP The Fame Monster. In 2011, she told The Guardian, ‘When I was really young, I was fascinated by performance artists.’”
